Nate Adams serves as Executive Director of the Illinois Baptist State Association. He grew up both in Southern Illinois, where his father, Tom Adams, was a pastor, and in Northern Illinois where his father served as a pastor and director of missions. He has a bachelor’s degree from Judson University in Elgin, Illinois, a master’s degree in management from National-Louis University in Evanston, Illinois, and an honorary doctorate in humane letters from Judson University. Prior to returning to serve the more than 1,000 churches of IBSA in March 2006, Dr. Adams was vice president of mobilization for the SBC’s North American Mission Board in Atlanta for eight years. Before joining NAMB, he was corporate vice president of publishing operations for Christianity Today, Inc. in Carol Stream. He has also been a bivocational church planter and a youth minister and has served as interim pastor for several churches. Dr. Adams is the author of four books, including The Acts 1:8 Challenge, the 2005 Doctrine Study for Southern Baptists, and The Home Team, Spiritual Practices for a Winning Family. He and his wife, Beth, live in Springfield and have three sons (one in college and two in high school).
